The Legal 500 has published its long anticipated EMEA rankings for 2023.

With regards to Israel, there are a total of 74 changes in the practice areas, which is the same as in 2022 and lower than in recent years prior (compared to 105 in 2021, 134 in 2020 and 175 in 2019).

The number of firms who went up and entered the rankings is nearly identical, 36, to the number of firms who went down or out of the rankings.

Moreover, this marks the second straight year where we can count more firms going down than up (23 to 21).

When examining the firms who improved their rankings, two firms come top with four improvements each – FBC and Barnea., one firm with three improvements – Gornitzky and 17 law firms with one improvement. Five law firms climbed to Tier 1 this year – FBC (Healthcare, Hi-Tech, IP:Transactions), N.Feinberg  (Employment) and S.Horowitz (IP:Copyrights), EBN (Restructuring) and Reinhold (IP:Patents).

Only 14 law firms, among Israel’s 25 largest law firms, moved up the rankings this year, while 35 law firms managed to improve in the individual rankings (leading/next generation/rising stars).

With that said, this year witnesses the rise of the star individuals, with 103 new entries into the Leading, Next Generation and Rising Stars categories. The firms who performed best with individuals entering the tables – Herzog (12), FBC (11), newly merged firms – Goldfarb Gross (9) and Arnon, Tadmor (7), followed by AYR and Gornitzky  with 6 each and Lipa and Meitar  with 5.
